The Houston Business and Tax Law Journal (“HBTLJ”) is an academic publication managed by students at the University of Houston Law Center.  HBTLJ publishes two or three issues per year, with each publication covering various relevant issues in business, corporate and tax law.

HBTLJ accepts unsolicited manuscripts and works-in-progress for publication consideration. The Board of Editors will notify authors of the publication decision within four weeks of receipt of the work. In making publication decisions, HBTLJ takes into account several factors including the current legal and policy trends in business, commerce, and tax. Furthermore, HBTLJ considers the variety of selected pieces and compatibility with HBTLJ’s range of topics.

HBTLJ requests that submissions include/conform to the following:

  • an abstract description of the article and thesis presented
  • submissions should be typed and double-spaced
  • citations must comply with guidelines established by The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation
  • a contact page containing the author’s name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address
  • a curriculum vitae or resume for the author

HBTLJ prefers electronic submission in Microsoft Word format.  Please address cover letters to our Managing Editor, Luke Bohmfalk. To submit, please either use the link for electronic publication below, submit via email to submissions@hbtlj.org, or mail to:
